“The Little Black Boy”
The little black boy,
living across the street,
ain’t got no toys
but the shoes on his feet.
The little black boy,
struggling to survive,
can’t get employed
since he ain’t even five.
The little black boy,
getting food from the trash,
plays like he’s coy
for a dollar in cash.
The little black boy,
smiling like the bright sun,
but, for that boy,
the sun will never come.
