Poetry & Songs:
The top of the world

By: Arjan Wardekker

As I'm standing here,
on the top of the world,
I'm looking down,
on the valleys below.

The beauty might be great
and the greatness overwhelming,
but everything seems to be,
just a cheap copy of you.

As the snowflakes fall,
they can't cool my mind.
As the icy wind rushes by,
I don't even notice.

My mind's with you,
wherever I look or turn.
My thoughts run past the days,
when you were by my side.

As I'm standing here,
on the top of the world,
I'm looking up,
to the stars above.

Far the heavens spread,
and many stars are out there,
but heaven's greatness can't match yours
and no star shines as bright as you.

I feel so alone,
among all this greatness
and the distance between us.
I so wish to be with you.
