By: Arjan Wardekker Type: Wearable (magic) Game: Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) / Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (AD&D) Björn's Emerald Earring, also known as the Earring of Broken Glass, is an earring made of precious emerald. It is named after the famous adventurer Björn Stronginthe'arm, a Dwarven Fighter/Sorcerer who caused barfights in almost every inn and tavern that he would enter. Björn later learned to control himself, but his legacy would be taken over by the Orc Agarka. The earring itself will appear to have a value of about 200 gp.
When a person wearing this earring enters a bar, the magic will become active. As soon as the wearer will attempt to start a conversation with another person in the bar, this person must make a save vs. spell (in ad&d, 2nd edition) or will save DC 14 (in d&d, 3rd edition) or become extremely annoyed by the wearer and start a fist-fight (instead of fists, the other person might also use feet, beer-glasses, chairs, tables or other people to hit the wearer). Within moments of this, the annoyance will spread to other persons (although this annoyance is not only directed at the wearer) and a barfight will erupt. While in a barfight, caused by the item, the earring will protect it's wearer from serious damage (absorbing a maximum of 5 points of damage per fight) and the effects of alcohol.
