Targai speak Abyssal and Infernal. Generally, Tarcan speak Common as well. Tekaisgel speak Common as well, and those with Intelligence scores of 14 or more speak Draconic. Night Thanes speak Common, Draconic, and Elven in addition to Abyssal and Infernal.

Tragon
Tragon are heavy shock troops that are dumber than rocks. A Tragon looks like a rocky-colored Ogre.

Combat
Breath Weapon (Su): 1d10 unholy damage per 5 points of Constitution (of the Tragon), in a cone of 5 ft. per 10 points of Constitution. Usable once every minute, Reflex save DC 16 halves the damage.
Stun (Ex): Slam, Fortitude DC 15 (10 + 1/2 HD + 1/2 (Str modifier + Con modifier)) or be stunned for 2-7 (1d6+1) rounds.
Targai Traits (Ex): Fire and cold resistance 5, Telepathy (100 ft.), Will of Targasyai (immune to mind-influencing effects and illusions).

Tarcan
Tarcan are a scout race. They seek out secrets and foes. A Tarcan looks like a small Vrock-Halfling hybrid.

Combat
Poison (Ex): Sting, Fortitude DC 15 (10 + 1/2 HD + Dex modifier), initial damage 1d6 Dex, secondary damage 2d6 Dex and 2d6 Con.
Spell-like Abilities (Sp): At will: Blur, Lullaby, Sleep, Expeditious Retreat, Magic Fang, 3/day: Deeper Slumber, Greater Magic Fang, Arcane Eye, True Seeing.
Skills: *A Tarcan receives a +5 racial bonus to Listen, Search, and Spot, and Track checks. Note that the bonus to Track is not included in the Survival skill bonus above, as it only applies to Track checks.
Superior Low-Light Vision (Ex): As Low-Light Vision, but can see 8x as far as humans, rather than 2x.
Targai Traits (Ex): Fire and cold resistance 5, Telepathy (100 ft.), Will of Targasyai (immune to mind-influencing effects and illusions).

Tekaisgel
Tekaisgel are rank and file soldiers. Some are rogues. They look like humand, but in some detail twisted.

Combat
Hive Mind (Ex): Similar to Formians, Tekaisgel can communicate through a hive mind. All Tekaisgel within 20 miles of their captain are in constant communication. If one is aware of a particular danger, they all are. No Tekaisgel in a group is considered flatfooted or flanked unless all of them are.
Spells-like Abilities (Sp): 4/day: Cure Light Wounds, Magic Weapon, Summon Monster 1, 2/day: Animate Dead (only Tekaisgel with Int or Cha 14 or higher), Inflict Light Wounds, 1/day: Greater Magic Weapon, Regeneration (only Tekaisgel with Wis 18 or higher). These spells are cast at caster level 2 + class levels, and have a saving throw of 10 + spell level + Cha modifier.
Summon Horde (Sp): Once per day, as a standard action, a Tekaisgel can summon 2-6 (2d3) dire rats. The rats arrive on the Tekaisgel's next turn and act immediately. The rats remain for (2 + class levels) rounds.
Targai Traits (Ex): Fire and cold resistance 5.

Night Thane
Night Thanes lord over lesser Targai. They look like Dark Elves, but meaner and more demonic.

Combat
Equipment: A Night Thane wears a Robe of Mage Armor +2. This item functions like Bracers of Armor (+2 version; 4000 gp). It's standard weapon is a +1 longsword, but (for variation) some may use another weapon (change their corresponding Martial Weapon Proficiency to reflect this).
Flight (Su): The Night Thane can fly at a speed of 50 ft. (listed as it's fly speed). This ability functions as a Fly spell cast by a 6th level Sorcerer, and can be used at will.
Spells: A Night Thane can cast spells as a cleric, sorcerer, wizard, bard, or druid (game master's choice) of caster level 6.
Targai Traits (Ex): Fire and cold resistance 5, Telepathy (100 ft.), Will of Targasyai (immune to mind-influencing effects and illusions).

[Editor's note: Author submitted a list of spell-like abilities with the Night Thane, including teleportation and attack spells. This ability has not been included here, for to balancing reasons. Also for balancing purposes, the creatures receive skill points according to Edition 3.0 rules (8 + Int modifier per HD).]

Sidebar: Lore from the tundris, concerning the Targai
(Background story submitted by the author)

Thank you all who listen for we have a long tale to tell.

The coming of the targai was with their master,
a half-demon lich, whose name in those days was Recolken.
The vile one chanced upon a gnomish village and then captured and changed the poor gnomes...
I hear you have met with the two lesser types of targai and one lord race, the Gnolkeu not among them.
Then he made his newly, made, I shall say for lack of a better term, targai show him the closest abode of intelligent creatures.
The poor halflings of Irage...
The Gnolkeu soon showed they surpassed there master in cruelty, and so was born the tarcan. Ever the scouts and minions of more evil things.
It happened to be the local ogres' raiding season as the Targai finished their work.
When the giants came to collect tribute from Irage as every year they were captured, but the greater part of their number was slain.
Then we have the mighty tragon, still made dumber by the targai than not and were accounted lesser.
Then they came on a human town, and the last lesser targai was made.
The hardy and feral Tekiasgel, made more loathsome for they be of human stock.
The next people they came across where drow elves,
and for a time made a pact with them.
When the drow first rested they changed them into the first night thanes and were deemed to be above the lesser ones but below the Gnolkeu.
I have heard that a few heroes fought their descendants.
The last race that we know of came as many years of work and evil.
They made headless golems and fixed beholders on them,
making the Begai-renaskai, and were with the night thanes.

Only before more evil had been done the redeemed dretch Ecal fought with Targasyai, as he became known.
And Ecal could not kill him for they were both now demi-gods, one for goodness, one for utter evil.
Then Ecal the Redeemed was set upon by the targai, but his servants drove off the targai.
Then, as a last stroke, Ecal sealed Recolken deep in the earth, but needs his most powerful servants to strengthen the seals once a year.

Well that's about it, I'll have more to tell later.

Lore from the Tundris, part II: Notice! A powerful ritual is being found.

Welcome once more.

Last time I told you of the Targai's beginnings, did I not?

I do not have anything new for the moment...
wait, there is something.
I'm translating some ancient texts,
come back in a few days and I shall reveal all.

-------
Lore from the Tundris, part III: The Dark Mutation.

Well there's a bit of the texts I have finished translating:

"I have finished, as well as I can, a living elemental transplant!
By means of torture I have opened a Gnome up to intense evil energy, then by the art of magic I cut open a small wound near the hart.
I summoned a shadow elemental and made it go into the poor gnome...
The screaming went on for hours!!!
When I observed the gnome I saw, via magic, that the shadow elemental had completely fused with the gnome.
I think I shall call him, and the other gnomes, the Gnolkeu"

What we see here in the first page is a recounting of the Targai lord's first creation, and if what he wrote was true no wonder the Targai are cruel and evil in the extreme.

"The new races, I shall call them all Targai, Are quite interesting.
The ogre race, Tragon, are the perfect heavy shock troops.
The Halfling race, Tarcan, are lovely spies.
The human race is the ultimate in rank and file soldiers.
The Night Thanes, are commanders of the lesser ones.
The Beholders, mounted upon stone golems are truly dangerous.
I shall kill all before me and make new types of Targai, until the world worships me, The God of the Targai!!!"

We see here that he is listing newer types of his unholy host. Also we see him becoming a demigod.

I shall tell you more later.

-------
Lore from the Tundris, part IV: Quest for a Cure.

We have some bad news and some good news.
The good news is that we MAY be able to cure the Targai, of being Targai. The bad news is we need a few things to make sure we can find a cure.
Esticealmeical will tell you more. You can just call him Estorice.

I am Estorice.

The mage has told me you are going to get him some stuff.
The first things you need to find for him are... wow, I think your going to die... anyway, you need a red, a silver AND a gold dragon of at least 1000 years of age.
Next you need is 1 whole Balor and a Pit Fiend.
And you need some light from a Lantern Archon and some Edlian that has a sphere form.

Happy hunting. I hope you come back alive.
Also you can have these necklaces of nine lives. They only have 4 eyes, but that means you can die four times.
Don't die and waste an eye.
