Hooks & Plots: Hamstar's Trial |

By: Matt Rosengren Difficulty: Level 19+ Game: Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) This adventure hook sends the players on a quest, collecting ingredients for the creation of a Philosopher's Stone. The quest starts when the players have convinced a Hamstar, a powerful immortal being, to create such an item. As the process of collecting the artifacts is quite difficult, it is advisable not to have the Hamstar require additional large sacrifices (e.g. gold or even more quests) as payment for creating the artifact. The reason for the Hamstar's service needs not be disclosed to the players. It could e.g. be a matter of the players proving their worth by collecting the hard to obtain ingredients, the quest may serve as entertainment for the being, or it might not really need all ingredients for the Philosopher's Stone at all (but might need one of them for some other purpose). The Hamstar provides the players with a shopping list:
"A STONE FROM A GREAT WYRM'S HOARD,
The last ingredient the Hamster riddle's at, is a scale of the Tarrasque. The game master can take the adventure from here as he/she deems fit.
